Nature lovers, here one of Khao Yai secret accommodation right in the middle of the forest with very nice bungalows for just a 1000Thb: Chet Khot Pong Kon Sao Nature and Eco-Tourism Study Center at the western edge of Khao Yai park.

The center, accessible only from Saraburi province, is closer to Bangkok,  have no public transport access and no road links access to the actual, far more popular, park headquarter. Which mean you will enjoy Khao Yai without the crowd in an almost private setting, just eighteen bungalows are available!!. You can rent some nicely build bungalows for just a 1000 Thb (book well in advance!) or choose camping around the lovely dam.

“Prepare your tent, bike and birdwatching binoculars and take a trekking trip to Chet Khot-Pong Kon Sao in Amphoe Kaeng Khoi, just a short distance from Amphoe Muang Saraburi on Mittraphap Road on the way to Amphoe Kaeng Khoi. Make a u-turn into Chet Khot-Pong Kon Sao Nature Study Center (Kheose entrance) where you can arrange accommodation and trekking service (Trekkers must be accompanied by a center guide).

Enter a new world, find a spot by the reservoir, set up a tent and go for a swim in Chet Khot Waterfall before heading back for dinner under the stars, sleep comfortably accompanied by the sounds of nature.

The morning is reserved for sightseeing at Mor Kreu; the scenic viewing spot on the peak, which is 500 meters above sea level. Or take a trek up the 7 levels of Krok I Dok Waterfall. You must be physically fit for this. The uppermost level of the waterfall which is itself over 30 meters high. The surrounding forest is full of rare flora. This is a world far removed from the one you may be familiar with and once you experience it you will want to come back. While trekking you can see wild animal’s trails,  Loris,  Pheasant,  Jungle Fowl and many other kind of birds and animals

There are 3 main routes for hiking:

Route I: Start from the Nature Study Center to Chet Khot Nue (North) waterfall then return  the same way (small round trip) a distance of 1.5 km, this takes about 1 hr.

Route II: Start from the Nature Study Center to Chet Khot Nue (North), Klang (Central),Tai (South) waterfall (medium round trip) a distance of 3 km, takes about 1-2 hrs.

Route III: Start from the Nature Study Center to Chet Khot Nue (North), Klang (Central),Tai (South) waterfall (large round trip), takes about 4 hrs.

There are many waterfalls in the area:

Chet Khot Nue (North) Waterfall: Middle waterfall about 1.2 km to the north of the Nature Study Centerr, 4 meters in height. You can swim in a middle sized pool  with forest surrounds. Most visitors come between May and  December.

Chet Khot Klang (Central) Waterfall: A small single level waterfall about 150 meters to the north of the center. Visitors like to use this to study the destruction of ecology of the land around the waterfall.

Chet Khot Tai (South) Waterfall: Middle sized, single level waterfall located at the south of the center, 15 meters in height. You can swim in a natural pool which is in a middle sized pool with forest surrounds. Most tourist come between May and November.

Chet Khot Yai (Big) Waterfall: Middle sized single level waterfall about 1.2 km to the south of the south of the center, 10 meters in height. You can swim in a natural middle sized pool with forest surrounds. This is popular spot for visitors.

Getting There :
By car: From Bangkok to Saraburi via Phaholyothin Rd (main road no.1), turn right and travel along Mittraphap Road (main road no.2) to Tambon Thap Kwang, Amphoe Kaeng Khoi (about 20 km)and make a u-turn onto the parallel road and continue for a further 1 km, then turn left into Yore Center and travel a further 20 km.

By bus: Regular air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses to Nakhon-Ratchsima province leave from Northern Bus Terminal (Mo Chit 2) on Kam Phang Phet 2 Road (www.mochit.com).
